Bio for Stan Kruml, THF

Born in the spring of 1944 to a family with rich roots in the old west, Stan’s family history spans an ocean. By covered wagon, they pioneered into the west to lay claim to a government land grant. After many years of trials, tribulations, and fighting Indians, the Lazy B6 Ranch was established in Nebraska.

Stan has literally spent his entire life with horses. In 1998 a study was done to trace his vast knowledge and experience as to how he came to understand so much about the horse. Through this study it was calculated that he had ridden the horse over 632,000 miles! He has personally put more than 2,400 horses under saddle. Currently, Stan is now closing in on a half million hours studying the behavior of horses. In response to his considerable experience and in-depth understanding of equine psychology, Stan is highly sought after by owners from all areas in the horse industry to solve severe behavioral problems. Stan’s business, The Horses Friend, brings to the community an honest and intelligent approach to understanding the horse. Stan uses his motto, “Education is the Answer” as a guideline in every avenue of life. Stan first works with the horse, using his “Slow is the fastest way to get there” approach and his knowledge of equine psychology. Then he teaches the owners how to be in control at all times, without using pain.

Utilizing a lifetime of research in the field of equine psychology has given Stan a leading edge in understanding the mind of the horse. Associations, field work, and personal research with the Universities of California at Davis, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and Texas A&M University, to name a few, has equipped Stan with a strongbox of information that he puts to use every day, in a multitude of avenues.

As well as being an advocate of education, Stan is a man of integrity and honor. He believes when one gives their best, and does it generously, the rewards will come back 10 fold! Stan’s ethics are of such a high standard that he has this humble offer for all his clients; “Spend one day with me and I will change your life with horses. By the end of the day, if you do not agree, you will not owe me a dime.”

As a bull and bronc rider, a skydiver, and a stuntman, among other interesting career facets, Stan has had more than his share of serious, life threatening injuries, most of which would have incapacitated any other ‘normal’ human being. But not this legend of a man! Shortly after arriving in Hollywood he began to work as a stuntman. In the spring of 1980, Stan was involved in a debilitating accident that put him in the hospital for 2 straight years, enduring 24 major surgeries. The State of California legally declared Stan “95% disabled”. In spite of that, Stan utilized his immense capacity of fortitude, stamina, persistence, and courage to get through the pain and trauma. He personally resolved that it would not hinder his passion to improve life for humans and horses alike. Stan says, “I use 100% of the remaining 5%”. This applies to every aspect of his life today.

Stan is a well known cowboy poet and motivational speaker. As a mentor of children, he promotes educational and self esteem programs through his poetry and storytelling. Stan is a library of knowledge on western history and culture. One of his many passions is to keep the “old west alive” in today’s modern world.

Stan is a man of many hats. And they are all tall.
